Trump’s negotiation are falling apart: regardless of ongoing diplomatic meetings—including the upcoming U.S.-Europe-Ukraine meeting in Paris—Russia is ultimately going to retain the Ukrainian territories it currently occupies. Delusional Western leaders keep proposing conditions (like unconditional ceasefires or security guarantees) that Russia has repeatedly rejected and will never accept. Meanwhile, Zelensky is portrayed as trying to use the prospect of new elections as leverage for a ceasefire, hoping Trump might pressure Russia, but this is unrealistic because Russia would not halt military operations simply to facilitate Ukrainian elections, not least of all because Zelensky lacks the legitimate standing to sign any major treaty anyway. Also, Trump’s illegal regime change war against Venezuela threatens to destabilize the region, and will most certainly delegitimaze the Trump government on the world stage going forward.
