FASCISM FILES

The political movement known as Fascism was born and raised in post-World War I Europe, most notably in Italy under Benito Mussolini (1922) and later with the ascendancy of Adolf Hitler (1933) in Nazi Germany prior to World War II. Their warmongering authoritarian regimes were initially fueled by economic instability, national resentment, fear of immigration, and the fear of communism. Propped up by large corporations and banking interests, fascist actors aim to win over the masses by always promise strong leadership, 'rebuilding our military', national 'unity', and an expansion of territory. Characterized by extreme nationalism, racist ethno-nationalism, authoritarian government rule, the suppression of opposition, and can often lead to genocide being committed by an extreme ruling elite.
