This weekend has been a disaster for Donald Trump and his increasingly unhinged Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, as their operation inside Iran ended with multiple US planes being shot down, and the President resorting to wild tweets where he continues to threaten Iranian people with “total obliteration” if they don’t accept an unconditional surrender from Washington. It’s reported that Trump and Hegseth begged Tehran for a 48 hour ceasefire in order to clean up their mess after their mission went bad, but Tehran ignored US pleas. Meanwhile, the Gulf monarchies continue to try and stay in the US camp—despite their economies and security position rapidly deteriorating both regionally and internationally. Entitled Gulf regimes seem to believe they can continue to collude against Iran and still maintain their privileged positions in the Persian Gulf. If history is any guide, their shortsightedness may lead to their demise. All this and more.
