In an odd turn of events, a hospital in Houston, Texas, has shunned one of its own ‘heroes’ of the pandemic.
Michelle Fuentes, a nurse for 10 years at Houston Methodist Hospital, felt ‘constant pressure’ to get the COVID vaccine by her employer that she had to make the difficult decision of submitting her resignation with two-weeks notice.
The hospital had recently announced all its employees would need to be jabbed by June 7.
Fuentes, who served in the COVID unit at the ‘height’ pandemic, told Fox13 News:
“I knew that the date was looming over my head of me to get the vaccine and we were constantly being pressured and pressured […] I just needed a little bit more time and little bit more research to be done.”
Watch:
Her employer was so dissatisfied with her decision to delay the shot, it decided to not allow Fuentes to complete her final two weeks of work and escorted her out of the hospital.
