A manhunt is underway after 12 people are said to have been shot dead at the headquarters of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris – but is there more to the story?

Planned Attack

We’re told that the main office of the Charlie Hebdo was attacked within two hours after they posted an image depicting the so-called ‘ISIS’ chief-cum-actor, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, with the message “best wishes.” The BBC and other big media outlets were quick to capitalize on Charlie Hebdo’s uncanny Tweet, conjuring the fear based propaganda surrounding the new terror brand.

Here’s the Charlie Hebdo tweet that is said to have contributed to the shooting attack…

‘BY WAY OF DECEPTION’ – Amazingly, this image of Al-Baghdadi was tweeted just two hours before the attack at Charlie Hebdo. (Photo link pbs.twimg.com)

In the wake of the latest Paris tragedy, there appears to be a burgeoning social marketing campaign attached to this event, conjuring the dreadful US State Department propaganda seen during #Kony2012 and more recently the Bokoharam #BringBackOurGirls campaign. Within an hour of the shooting news breaking, #JeSuisCharlie was trending, as people were ablaze in support of  journalistic freedom the world over.

How would Charlie Hebdo and other media sites already have a marketing plan within an hour or so of the shooting?

Two shooters wearing black masks outfitted in paramilitary gear were seen entering the well-known magazine’s headquarters wielding AK’s and other weaponry with witnesses reporting several rounds being fired after entering Charlie Hebdo’s offices.

Reports state that Corrine Rey, a cartoonist for Charlie Hebdo, who goes by the pen name Coco, had apparently encountered the masked shooters at the building’s entrance with her daughter. She provided the digital code to enter the Hebdo offices after threats of violence. Rey said that, “the men ‘spoke French perfectly’ and ‘claimed they were Al Qaeda terrorists.” The magazine’s editors had been apparently on Al Qaeda’s most wanted list.

According to reports on the scene, “four cartoonists were killed by the masked gunmen: Cabu, Wolinski, Tignous and Charb, the pen name of Stephane Charbonnier, also the chief editor at Charlie Hebdo.”

All told the violent siege is said to have killed two policemen, along with 10 journalists, with 11 others injured.

CBC News reported:

Journalists from Charlie Hebdo reportedly gather in their Paris office for their weekly editorial meeting. A Charlie Hebdo reporter told the French newspaper Le Monde that the attackers had to have been informed that the editorial meeting was taking place, otherwise there are not many people on the premises.”

You have to wonder who would have had access to inform the shooters about the editorial meetings?

The Associated Press reported on December 22nd, that security concerns have been growing in France, with several small attacks without a clear motive:

“French police are boosting security after an attack on officers in central France, and the country’s top security official is visiting the city where a driver ran down 11 pedestrians.

The visit of Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve on Monday was an indication of the government’s heightened concerns days after Islamic extremists renewed calls for individuals to attack in the West.

Counter-terrorist police are investigating Saturday’s knife attack on police in a suburb of Tours, which left two officers seriously injured and the attacker dead. On Sunday, a driver with a history of psychiatric problems rampaged through Dijon. Cazeneuve was visiting those injured in the attack.

French-speaking Islamic State militants have called for attacks in the West, most recently in a video posted on jihadi forums on Friday.

Charlie Hebdo’s offices were supposedly firebombed in 2011 after a feature depicting a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad and the magazine has purportedly been threatened for its religious caricatures of Islam according to reports.

It should be noted that the satire mag has been printing controversial images with references to Islam for nearly a decade, as pointed out by 21WIRE and had been involved in a law suit with The Grand Mosque, the Muslim World League and the Union of French Islamic Organisations (UOIF), who claimed the cartoon edition included racist cartoons.

According  to Stratfor, a well-known security analyst group, the gunmen appeared to be well-trained, “from the way they handled their weapons, moved and shot. These attackers conducted a successful attack, using what they knew, instead of attempting to conduct an attack beyond their capability, failing as a result.”

Historically, these kinds of events often involve some kind of multi-agency drill and in April of 2014 it was reported that French rescue and security forces had taken part in toxic gas drill located in France. The mock attack supposedly featured 15 departments that staged a toxic attack on a bus. While the drill was different in its nature to that of the Paris shooting, these security drills often precede a violent real life event.

In 2011, at the Cannes G20, there were reports of terror drills being conducted prior to the summit taking place.

According to a news release in September  of 2014, French officials have been working on a new anti-terror measure and the main impetus is to use instruments to go after “individuals” and after websites deemed as ‘defending’ or ‘provoking’ terror. Here is an excerpt from the AP about the changes the French government is seeking:

“Broadening legal instruments to go after “individuals” is another key change. France’s current anti-terror law targets “groups.”

“Taking the French fight against jihadi to the Internet, the top source of indoctrination and calls to the battlefield, is another key measure. The new law would block sites that defend or lead to terrorism and oblige Internet service providers and Web site hosts to signal anything defending terrorism or seen as provoking it.”

Echoes Of An Old Attack

In mid November of 2013, a gunman had been named in attacks on the offices of the news channel BFM TV in Paris, as well as the newspaper Libération and the headquarters of the bank Société Générale.  following the apparent attacks, the gunman hijacked a motorist to flee the scene.

The gunman was nabbed and identified as Abdelhakim Dekhar and had been living in Britain prior to the shootings. In a strange twist before the planned shootings, Dekhar allegedly served four years in jail for trying to purchase a gun from the 1994 Rey-Maupin affair that left five people dead. Dekhar had been suspected of being the third man in the so-called Rey-Maupin affair but he was never charged in that case.

According to the DailyMail: Dekhar, “had written a ‘confused’ letter criticising media manipulation and capitalism and including a vague reference to Syria.” continuing the article mentions that: “One (letter) appeared to be a suicide note, and the other was described as a ‘rather confused’ letter evoking ‘fascist plots.’

Witnesses at the trial in 1998 described Dekhar as a mentor to Rey-Maupin and he was accused of manipulating the young couple.

In the early 1990s, Dekhar had been seen squatting at places that left-wing radicals were seen. Many of those locations were reported to be under police surveillance

Dekhar claimed to have been recruited by the Algerian secret services to infiltrate the French far-left prior his targeted shooting attacks. The Dekhar ‘shotgun shootings’ prompted concern about attacks on other media outlets in the future.

There of course were other violent acts such as the 1995 Paris Metro bombing, an event that has long since been suspected of having government informants and intelligence operators being involved in the deadly attack.

Are we looking at something similar in the Charlie Hebdo shooting?

Back in October 21WIRE discussed the events surrounding the Canada Shooter Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, who as it appeared had a connection to police and law enforcement prior top his deranged shooting. It was revealed that Canada’s CSIS had been working an anti-terror bill prior to the shooting in October. This seemed to set the stage for more ‘artificial Jihad’ in December with Sydney’s own brand of terror theater dubbed the ‘Sydney Siege’ which involved a highly suspect Sheikh’ Haron Moni.

Below is a video posted on YouTube that examines the apparent kill shot of a security agent, following the shooting attack on Charlie Hebdo’s offices.

Watch as the bullet appears to ricochet off of the concrete sidewalk, while no blood is seen coming from the victim at point blank range, and the rifle is without recoil…

Possible Paris shooting motives

In a December BBC news release, “The French parliament passed the motion urging the government to recognise a Palestinian state with 339 MPs voting in favour and 151 against.”

The Jerusalem Post reported just last week that, “Israel on Friday formally expressed its “deep disappointment” to France for voting on Tuesday for a Palestinian resolution at the UN Security Council calling for a full IDF withdrawal to the pre-1967 lines by the end of 2017.”

Some researchers believe the recognition of a Palestinian state could have been a pretext for a staged terror event or attack within France. There are many interests looking to silence Palestine’s bid for statehood and any support of that could be deemed as a threat.

To heighten the intensity of the Paris shooting, there was a report of a car explosion that occurred outside of a synagogue in the Paris suburb of Sarcelles ,” that had been caused by a mechanical failure, Paris Metro reported.

Other analysts have suggested that the Paris shooting was a highly skilled event, invoking the work of Operation Gladio.

To provide a background on the existence of state-sponsored terror using proxy agents, here’s a YouTube clip of a BBC documentary entitled Operation Gladio. It describes how a secret army operated by the CIA and MI6 through NATO was used to carryout its objectives…

Here is another modern analysis of Operation Gladio by James Corbett and Sibel Edmonds in 2013…

At the moment there is an ongoing security operation following today’s deadly attack and French authorities have named three suspects in this case.

UPDATE: As of 11:30pm local time, French police are claiming to have ”indentified” 3 suspects, two brothers and one other, aged 34, 32, and 18, who reside in a suburb of Paris, and who police believe “may have been the shooters” (but this does not necessarily mean they were the gunmen who carried out today’s attack). Additionally, there have been reports that one of the brothers named in the attack Said Kouachi, left his ID behind after fleeing the scene.

The origins of the ID story are still shaping up, as we must consider the possibility the identification left at the scene, could also involve some type of staging…
