This video could have just as easily been called ‘Hitting the nail
on the head’…
Host: “You called the President recently, an elected dictator. What do you mean by that?”
Ron Paul: “Well, you know, a couple weeks ago he announced Congress is too slow. They don’t move fast enough. So, he was very bold about it. He says, ‘I’m going to pass my legislation one piece at a time. His stimulus package. I’ll write an executive order every week.’ I mean that is arrogant. He is flaunting the Constitution and the whole principles of how we are supposed to operate. Even though these Executive Orders have been around for a long time and I’ve complained about them a long time. But the idea that they can just do this and take over the legislative function and brag about it and Congress does nothing and the courts do nothing.”
When Obama was running for office President Bush’s perverse use of
‘executive orders’ were a big deal at the time. So much so that
Obama even promised not to rule by executive decree, yet THAT is
exactly what he’s been doing.
We all know that congress is the legislative body, but when
presidents can’t get congress to pass the legislation that they
want, they can write and enforce their own legislation through
‘executive orders’.
This is an end-run around the legislative body, a perversion of our
system of government, and by definition… dictatorial.
