George Carlin’s Straight Talk on American War Culture and The Sham of Democracy

21st Century Wire says…

One of the greatest political pundits in American history was not a politician, he was a comedian.

Back in the day, people used to laugh at George Carlin’s diatribes and treatise on the fraud of the US political system and the military-government-media corporate welfare complex.

Many of the clips in the piece below were recorded in the late 1980’s and 1990’s. Twenty years later, no one is laughing anymore, because everything Carlin said is still true, and still nothing has changed. In fact, it has gotten worse.

If you read between the satirical lines, you’ll see that Carlin was actually advocating for two things: common sense, and peace. Ironically, those two concepts are frowned upon in today’s hyperactive, self-obsessed American society.

Listen and share this timeless video montage from one of America’s greatest social and political voices…

The nation is so deeply divided now that we can never solve anything. Its always one party on the attack and the other in denial. People actually defend their own corrupt politicians just to save face. It’s a hopeless situation.

  • Gregory Monroe

The “Outsiders” are painted by the media as Communists (Bernie Sanders), or Kooks (Donald Trump), so that the Establishment can maintain power.

I fail to see in what sense Trump can be regarded as an outsider – he’s very cosy with establishment figures like the Clintons, and obviously not an outsider in terms of current polls

    • Space Ghost

GM: Is Trump a new level or version of their game. The ILLUSION of an outsider? It does fit as a dastardly “conspiracy theory” but given the things done to date with elections or false flag events, stranger and more difficult moves with leadership politics and geopolitics have occurred than some rich people talking off line and off the record… Not unlike insider trading huh? Give it some thought. How different would it be with say Trump, Cruz, Rubio, or Hillary. The pet projects would be different but with think tanks and Congress and cross-administration lifers and staff types in the shadows, the machine would run pretty much the same. Like Exxon changing wildly different CEOs. It’s still Exxon.

Where are the George Carlins of today? Could they even get as far in mainstream media as George did? The truth is so often a victim of “collateral damage”.

From what I can see Carlin hated being thought of as an advocate for anything, but yes it’s pretty clear he was more politically impassioned than he possibly dared to admit.

Divided? How about fragmented and virtually ungovernable!
