Correction from Patrick Henningsen: During the final part of our discussion, I spoke regarding the vacant House seat left by GOP member Matt Gaetz seat, saying it was filled by pro-Israel member Randy Fine. It wasn’t Matt Gaetz’s seat which Fine filled, but rather that of Trump’s then National Security advisor pick (now UN Ambassador) Mike Waltz. The incoming Randy Fine then defeated Democrat Josh Weil for the 6th District seat formerly held by Waltz. Gaetz’s vacant seat was filled by Jimmy Patronis in a special election. As a Florida state official, Patronis is a major Israel loyalist, and was behind Governor DeSantis’s move to ban BDS boycotts of Israel in the state, and set up a new economic package for Florida’s financial support of Israel.
