Israel’s war crimes against Palestinian civilians have reached unspeakable levels of violence and horror. One of the most gruesome practices has been Israel sadistic targeting of medical workers, doctors, rescue crews – as well as the injured patients themselves.
Speaking at a screening of the documentary “Under Fire: Israel’s war on medics”, leading Israeli scholar, historian and author Avi Shlaim charted Zionism’s political journey from the founding of the Israeli state to the perpetration of genocide in Gaza by its current government. Accusing Israel of turning Gaza into a “wasteland” and “mass grave”, Shlaim held international powers responsible for unconditionally supporting the actions of a “fascist” government, adding that they too were on the “wrong side of history”. Produced by Middle East Eye and presented by award-winning journalist Hind Hassan, the documentary examines Israel’s destruction of the healthcare system in Lebanon and Gaza, shedding light on tactics such as “double-tap strikes” targeting emergency responders attempting to rescue civilians.
