There ws a lot of hype coming into his second term. Sadly, Trump has gone down an all-too familiar path of failed imperialists in history. His first mistake is to think that Palestine is like Atlantic City, New Jersey – far too often, real estate developers treat rebuilding like colonisation.
In this case, Trump wants to colonise the planet. But in doing so, he’s destroying future US relations with Arab countries, and the rest of the Global South. It also means to downward spiral of American influence and relations globally. Worse yet, Israel has now established itself as a pariah state internationally, and will never recover. US unconditional support for Israel will only damage US reputation going forward.
