Once again, a seemingly inexplicable mass shooting, this time at Bacha Khan University in the town of Charsada in northwest Pakistan.
According to reports this morning, “Taliban” (this is the term being used by US media this morning) gunmen stormed the college campus at about 9.30am local time and randomly opened fire on students and teachers, in classrooms and school dormitories.

The Guardian reported that four gunmen, said to be from Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP), a Pakistani militant group, were wearing “suicide bomb vests.”
In a bizarre twist, however, two different ‘spokesmen’ for the terrorist group appear to have crossed their PR wires, with a TTP spokesman later coming out to deny any credit for the attack, as reported by CNN:
“The TTP “strongly condemn the attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda and disown the attack, saying this is not according to Shariah,” according to a statement emailed by TTP Central Spokesman, Mohammad Khurrassani.
A senior Taliban commander, Umar Mansoor, earlier claimed responsibility for today’s attack on a university that has left at least 21 people dead.”
EDITOR’S NOTE: This apparent switch looks very similar to the Cointel Pro method of grey propaganda designed to reinforce to the public that the TTP carried out this attack – a major application of grey propaganda is making enemies believe falsehoods using straw arguments: As phase one, to make someone believe “A”, one releases as grey propaganda “B”, the opposite of “A”. In phase two, “B” is discredited using some strawman. The enemy will then assume “A” to be true. (Wikipedia)
Initial reports claim approximately 30 people are dead including 4 gunman, but some other student eye witness reports indicate that the eventual death toll could reach as high as 50 or 60 dead.
Back in December 2014, seven gunmen affiliated with the TTP attacked an the Army Public School in nearby Pakistani city of Peshawar. The unusual band of foreign militants, included one Chechen, three Arabs and two Afghans, are said to have killed 141 people, including 132 schoolchildren. According to Pakistani authorities, a “rescue operation” was launched by the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) special forces, who claim to have killed all seven terrorists and rescued 960 people.
On 2 December 2015, Pakistan hanged four militants involved in the Peshawar massacre.
Recently, US-based terror plots saw to link one of the alleged San Bernardino shooters, Tafsheen Malik, to another campus in Pakistan, at Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan.
