Neturei Karta’s ultra-Orthodox Jews march under the Palestinian flag, rejecting Zionism and the State of Israel while supporting Palestinians resisting occupation. This new documentary follows the movement from early Jewish opposition to Zionism to protests in Jerusalem and New York. Through its members and critical historians, the film explores the Balfour Declaration, the assassination of Jacob Israel de Haan, the movement’s Holocaust-era origins and its defiant stance after Israel’s creation in 1948. Despite police crackdowns, death threats and isolation from mainstream Jewry, Neturei Karta has forged ties with Palestinians, from Yasser Arafat’s inner circle to solidarity with Gaza, challenging assumptions about Judaism, Zionism and resistance.
