ICC Finally Issues Arrest Warrant for Netanyahu

In this video, Kevork Almassian from Syriana Analysis breaks down the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrants issued earlier today against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant and Mohammed Deif of Hamas. He explains how, while a warrant acknowledges violations of international law and warcrimes committed, its enforcement remains highly unlikely due to political dynamics.

Netanyahu is not expected to face arrest in allied nations like the United States or the United Kingdom, which continue to provide diplomatic cover and military assistance to Israel. Almassian also explains how even if Netanyahu were arrested, warcrimes against Palestinians would more than likely persist under new Israeli leadership and notes that sacrificing Netanyahu could serve to protect broader Israeli policies.  Watch:

The United States’ continues supporting Israel as the project is a critical tool which serves to maintain U.S. dominance in the Middle East. Israel acts as a “satellite state,” essential to U.S. geopolitical strategy, he claims. Should the Israeli project fail, Washington’s ability to project power, control energy supply lines, secure trade routes, and manage regional rivalries would be severely compromised. Thus, the U.S. sees Israel’s success as indispensable to its hegemonic aspirations in the region.

This strategic alignment leads to a blatant disregard for the devastating toll on Palestinian civilians. The U.S. routinely blocks UN efforts to establish ceasefires or hold Israel accountable, prioritizing strategic interests over human rights. Almassian further notes that this reflects a broader pattern of sociopathic indifference in U.S. foreign policy, where the lives of Palestinians or other vulnerable populations are expendable in pursuit of American interests.

While presenting itself as a champion of democracy and human rights, the U.S. systematically undermines efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. By ensuring Israel’s dominance and suppressing Palestinian aspirations for statehood, the U.S. maintains its influence in the region. Almassian maintains that this approach obstructs any meaningful pursuit of peace or justice for Palestinians.
