Still limping along after back-to-back terms of a deeply unpopular Macron regime, France continues to spiral downwards with a terminal constitutional and fiscal crisis—driven by a deeply fragmented parliament, soaring national debt, and rapid government collapses. The National Assembly is split into three immovable blocs, which is paralyzing policymaking. Despite past successes, Trumpian figure Marine Le Pen, leader of far-right National Rally, now appears to have been co-opted by the Establishment, and will not be leading any real transformational movement. Meanwhile, the EU and NATO continue to water-down France’s last vestiges of sovereignty and independence. Like the rest of Europe, corrupt leaders try to divert public attention away from their failures by talking-up wars and stoke the domestic fires of immigration and racial division. What comes next for France?
