This week the United States begins high-stakes indirect talks (via Oman) with Iran – in an effort to reach some common ground on an increasingly tense nuclear crisis standoff. This comes on the heels of President Trump’s threat of pre-emptive military and ‘tactical nuke’ strikes on Iran – even though Iran is not in possession of a nuclear weapon. In the background is Israel pushing Trump to green-light an attack on Iran. Many experts are now reconsidering the threat matrix in the region, and righting asking: who is the real problem in this equation, Iran or Israel?
