Still, the embattled Maduro government has managed to withstand US pressure on the country.
Despite this, the reality now is that Venezuela is in default – a country which has descended into one of the great economic and humanitarian crises of this 21st Century. But President Nicolas Maduro sees an opportunity with President Biden and the influential Progressive wing of the Democratic party – as he makes his public plea to Washington to make a deal. Will Maduro turn his country’s future around?
