SUNDAY SCREENING: ‘The History of Oil’ (2006)

Our weekly documentary film curated by the editorial team at 21WIRE.

British performance artist Robert Newman delves deep into the world wars and real politik, with this brilliant and creative journey through Newman’s unique theatre of the mind – chronicling the exploits of the Anglo-American Empire over the last hundred years – with oil as the central protagonist. In it, he questions the supposed ‘liberal’ media propensity to side-skirt important issues, in a ‘Festen-style conspiracy of silence administered by groupthink and ruled the corporations who own media and politicians. Definitely a thought-provoking one man performance. Watch:
