Last week, 21WIRE traveled to South Lebanon to investigate a recent war zone, including a tour of a decommissioned Hezbollah military bunker dug into the side of a mountain in Mleeta, and a journey to another nearby key citadel, Beaufort Castle (Qala’at al-Shaqif) that has changed hands many times from the first Crusades until today, including in 2000 when Hezbollah resistance fighters fought and pushed back the Israeli IDF occupation of South Lebanon.
