Nearly 30 years ago, two criminal enterprises known as the Democratic and Republican parties hijacked the presidential debates process. Previous to that, presidential debates were run by a non-partisan, non-political group.
No more, now the two criminal parties get to shape the show to their liking.
BOTTOM LINE: No hard questions and the parties get to pack the audience with their brainless operatives. No real people allowed.
