James Le Mesurier, 48, founder of the controversial ‘search and rescue’ group the White Helmets, was confirmed dead on Monday, with further details of the incident as yet unknown. According to reports, the former British military intelligence officer, mercenary and entrepreneur was found dead on street below his apartment in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district at roughly 4.30am.
