‘Trump Shtetl’: Netanyahu pledges to Name Illegal Golan Settlement After US President

In a move that is meant to express the deep gratitude of the illegal occupiers of UN recognized territory in Palestine and Syria, Israel’s embattled far-right nationalist Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has pledged to name the Zionist entity’s newest illegal settlement in the occupied Golan Heights after U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

In late March, Trump had announced that he would be recognizing the illegal occupied Golan Heights as Israel’s “sovereign territory” as part of Netanyahu’s election campaign ploy to curry favor with Israel’s far right, fundamentalist ethno-nationalist voting bloc. This, along with a number of other stunts, helped to swing the recent Israeli elections in Netanyahu’s favor.

“In honor of President Trump, who recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan, [the state of Israel] will soon call for a settlement in the Golan Heights in his name. Happy holiday!” said Netanyahu on Twitter today.

Israel took over the Syrian land after the 1967 Six Day War under the guise of “security buffer,” although it is believed that Israel had always intended to steal Syria’s fertile agriculture region, bountiful water and oil resources. Those suspicions turned out to be well-founded, as Israel then annexed it by force in 1981 – ignoring multiple UN Resolutions and flouting international law.

At present, some 40,000 people residents live in the occupied Golan, comprising mostly of Druze, Alawites, along with a majority percentage of illegal European, North American and South African Jewish settlers strategically planted in key areas by the occupier government in Tel Aviv.
