SYRIA: Turkish ‘Observation Post’ Comes Under Fire in Northwest Hama

BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:45 P.M.) – A Turkish observation post in northwestern Hama came under fire this afternoon following a fierce exchange of artillery between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and jihadist rebels.

According to claims from opposition activists, the Turkish observation post in Sheir Magher came under artillery fire when Syrian Arab Army shells targeted their positions during today’s attack on northwestern Hama.

There have been no reports of casualties or a response from the Turkish military.

Earlier today, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham [HTS, Al Qaeda affiliate in Syria]  launched a big counter-offensive in northwestern Hama that targeted the area north of Qal’at Al-Madiq.

Qal’at Al-Madiq was captured by the Syrian Arab Army during the first week of their northwestern Hama offensive.

Since then, the jihadist rebels have only launched artillery shells and missiles towards the town from their positions in the nearby Shashabo Mountain.
