Obama’s Secret Letter to Tehran: Is the War against Iran On Hold?

“The Road to Tehran Goes through Damascus”

The New York Times announced that the Obama Administration had sent an important letter to the leadership of Iran on January 12, 2012. [1]

On January 15, 2012, the spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry acknowledged that the letter had been delivered to Tehran by way of three diplomatic channels:

(1) one copy of the letter was handed to the Iranian Ambassador to the United Nations, Mohammed Khazaee, by his U.S. counterpart, Susan Rice, in New York City;

(2) a second copy of the letter was delivered in Tehran by the Swiss Ambassador to Iran, Livia Leu Agosti; and

(3) a third copy went to Iran by way of Jalal Talabani of Iraq. [2]

In the letter, the White House spelled out the position of the United States, while Iranian officials said it was a sign of things as they really are: the U.S. cannot afford to wage a war against Iran.

Within the letter written by President Barak Hussein Obama was a U.S. request for the start of negotiations between Washington and Tehran to end Iranian-U.S. hostilities.

“In the letter, Obama announced readiness for negotiations and the resolution of mutual disagreements,” Ali Motahari, an Iranian parliamentarian, told the Mehr News Agency. [3] According to another Iranian parliamentarian, this time the Deputy Chairperson of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Hussein Ebrahimi (Ibrahimi), the letter went on to ask for Iranian-U.S. cooperation and negotiations based on the mutual interests of both Tehran and Washington. [4]

Obama’s letter also tried to assure Tehran that the United States would not engage in any hostile action against Iran. [5] In fact, in the same timeframe, the Pentagon cancelled or delayed major joint drills with Israel. [6]

To the Iranians, however, the gestures are meaningless, because the Obama Administration’s actions with Iran have always contradicted its words. Moreover, Iran believes that the U.S. has not attacked, because it knows that the costs of a war with an opponent like Iran are too high and its consequences far too risky.

This, however, does not mean that an Iranian-U.S. showdown has been avoided or will not eventually happen. The currents can go either way, so to speak. Nor does this mean that the Obama Administration is not currently waging a war against the Iranians and their allies. In fact, Washington’s bloc and Iran’s bloc have been fighting a shadow war from the digital arena and television airwaves to the valleys of Afghanistan and the bustling streets of Beirut and Baghdad.

The War Against Iran Started Years Ago

The war in Iran did not start in 2012 or even 2011. Newsweek Magazine even stated the following on a cover title in 2010: “Assassinations, cyberattacks, sabotage – has the war against Tehran already begun?” The actual war may have started in 2006.

Instead of attacking Iran directly, the U.S. has started a covert and proxy war. The covert dimensions of the war are being fought by intelligence assets, cyber attacks, computer viruses, secretive military units, spies, assassins, agent provocateurs, and saboteurs. The kidnapping and assassination of Iranian scientists and military commanders, which started several years ago is a part of this covert war. In this shadow war, Iranian diplomats in Iraq have been abducted and Iranians visiting Georgia, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey have been detained or kidnapped. Syrian officials, various Palestinian figures, and Hezbollah’s Imad Fayez Mughniyeh have also all been assassinated in this shadow war.

The proxy wars started in 2006 when Israel attacked Lebanon with the intention of expanding the war against Syria. The road to Damascus goes through Beirut, while Damascus is on the way to Tehran. After their failure in 2006, realizing that Syria was the lynchpin of the Resistance Bloc, which Iran dominated, the U.S. and its allies spent the next five to six years trying to de-link Syria from Iran.

The U.S. is also fighting Iran and its allies on the diplomatic and economic fronts through the manipulation of international bodies and proxy states. In the 2011 to 2012 context, the crisis in Syria on a geo-political level is a front in the war against Iran. Even the Israeli-U.S. drill Austere Challenge 2012 and the U.S. deployment of troops were primarily aimed at Syria as a means of combating Iran.

Syria in the Eye of the Storm

What Washington is doing is exerting psychological pressure on Iran as a means of distancing it from Syria, so that the United States and its cohorts can go for the kill. Up until the start of January 2012, the Israelis have continuously been preparing to launch an invasion of Syria in a rematch of 2006, while U.S. and E.U. officials have continously tried negotiating with Damascus for a deal to de-link from Iran and the Resistance Bloc. The Syrians, however, have always refused.

Foreign Policy, the magazine of the Council on Foreign Relations, published an article in August 2011 stating what was on the Saudi King’s mind about Syria in context of attacking Iran: “The King knows that other than the collapse of the Islamic Republic [of Iran] itself, nothing would weaken Iran more than losing Syria.” [7] Whether the above statement genuinely came from Abdul Aziz Al-Saud or not, this strategic outlook is representative of the reasons for the targeting of Syria. Obama’s own security advisor has also said the same thing, just a few months after the piece by Foreign Policy was released, in November 2011. National Security Advisor Donilon gave a speech saying that the “end of the Assad regime would constitute Iran’s greatest setback in the region – a strategic blow that will further shift the balance of power in the region against Iran.” [8]

The Kremlin has also made statements that corroborate that Washington wants to de-link Syria from its Iranian ally. One of Russia’s highest security officials has announced that Syria is being punished, because of its strategic alliance with Iran. The Secretary of the National Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai (Nikolay) Platonovich Patrushev, has publicly stated that Syria is the subject of Washington’s pressure due to geo-political interests tied to cutting Syria’s ties with Iran and not due to any humanitarian concerns. [9]

Iran has also given signals that should the Syrians be attacked, it will not hesitate to intervene militarily to come to Syria’s aid. Washington does not want this. The Pentagon would much rather swallow Syria first, before turning its full and undivided attention to Iran. The Pentagon’s objectives are to fight its targets piecemeal. Despite the U.S. military doctrine of fighting simultaneous wars in multiple theatres and all the Pentagon literature about it, the U.S. is not ready yet to wage a conventional regional war against both Iran and Syria or risk an expanded war with Iran’s Russian and Chinese allies yet. The march to war, however, is far from over. For now the U.S. government will have to continue the shadow war against Iran and intensify the media, diplomatic, and economic war.

SYRIA PREPARING TO RESIST GLOBALIST AND NATO REGIME CHANGE PLANS

August 23, 2011

By Patrick Henningsen
21st Century Wire
August 24, 2011

With globalist restructuring plans for the Middle East and North Africa looking to be nearly complete, one major hurdle remains. After a relatively easy path to victory in Tunisia and Egypt, and with the project to dismantle and re-privatise the Libyan state nearly complete, only Syria remains as the last serious contender for resistance against a globalist effort to dominate the greater region.

According to a report yesterday in USA TODAY, the Syrian leader, President Bashar Assad is ”not worried” about the security of his country, and also warned NATO against any foreign military operations against this country. The report continues by stating:

“I am not worried about the security situation right now, we can say the security situation is better… It may seem dangerous, but in fact we are able to deal with it,” Assad concluded.

NOT ROLLING OVER: Assad's Syria will be one of the globalists most difficult regime change operations.

Led by the globalists’ top PR spokesperson Barack Obama, the West, without question has long set its sights on Syria. Western media consumers can firstly expect a trial by media of Assad, followed by more Western-backed provocateur actions within the country designed to sway international opinion in favour of the  following:

1. International sanctions
2. UN Resolution
3. No Fly Zone
4. A long, protracted NATO bombing campaign
5. “Regime change

This is the current formula(above) being employed by the US, UK and its ‘Coalition’ partners to win control of a country. After the US over-step in Iraq in 2003, the acceptable diplomatic technique is now done whereby the US/UK will work through the UN by pushing a vague resolution, and using NATO as the quasi-legal enforcement arm of a UN-backed NO FLY ZONE. Certainly, this has worked so far with Libya.

Globalist think tank The Council on Foreign Relation (CFR), officially called for “regime change in Syria” on August 18th. This should be as clear an indication as any that plans have already been drawn up to restructure the country.

The story by now, should be a familiar one. As with Libya, top analysts have concluded that the recent Syrian unrest was planned many months ago, and has since been seized upon by the western media. It is not surprising here that unrest in that country has been both financed and driven mainly by a foreign agents of influence, and not true reform seekers as is depicted in the western mainstream press.

As with the technique used in Libya, the western PR machine will then spin the story that Assad’s forces opened fire on “peaceful protesters” and therefore render him(in the eyes of western media consumers) illegitimate as the ruling government in that country. Another humanitarian intervention- it’s a formula that has apparently worked thus far in Libya, and to a lesser degree in both Egypt and Tunisia. This PR effort is then helped along by digital trending using social networks like Twitter, with the majority of regime change activity being posted in English language format.

As we have seen in the final stages of the fall of Libya, not only are western-backed rebels receiving heavy arms and NATO air support, Britain’s M16 have been on the ground directing military activities in the country, as well as known terrorists being shipped in and used by western intel agencies during the final stages of the civil war. The same can be expected in Syria should the country descend into an artificial civil war.

Western intelligence openly active in supporting and directing “rebel” forces in Libya.

Clearly, Assad is unlikely to resign from power, which creates the ideal media conflict between him and his western detractors.

Predictably, and once again, in this situation President Barack Obama‘s calls for sanctions against Syria and for its leader President Assad to “step down” from power are all part of a PR and diplomatic process designed to soften the ground for an impending NATO, or “coalition” group military intervention in Syria.

The US have already scrambled its military assets in the region of Syria, and have been conducting manuevers there for a number months already, through Operation Sea Breeze 2011 and other similar exercises.

Few would deny the strategic importance of Syria on the grand chessboard. It’s bordering neighbors include no less than Israel, Turkey, Lebanon and most importantly now, Iraq. It is a given that all of those neighbors, with a possible exception of Lebanon, will do the USA’s bidding when is comes to cooperating in an operation against Syria. But Syria is also a natural political ally of Iran, a trading partner with Russia and China, and is still aligned firmly with the region’s last remaining effective, independent militias- Hezbollah, based in Lebanon.

To break Syria, and then bring it under the globalist umbrella would be a key jewel on the globalist crown in their effort to control the entire Middle East and Central Asian region. In addition, Syria is one the region’s most economically independent sovereign states and possesses an incredible basket of natural resources. For all these reasons, Syria is a very high priority for globalist economic privatisation and dismantling of the state that is currently in place.

Israel’s stake in Syrian regime change is first and foremost- land. The remainder of the Golan Heights, as well as its formerly occupied prize in the form of South Lebanon will be firmly within Israel’s grasp if the country should eventually come under US and European globalist control.

LAND IN QUESTION: Israel has its sights set on both the Golan Heights and South Lebanon.

Unlike Saddam Hussein in Iraq, or Gaddafi in Libya, President Assad’s confidence in Syria’s ability to overcome the current western-backed coup is not misplaced optimism. Unlike other soft targets in the surrounding region, Syria maintains one of the largest, most loyal, and well-trained standing armies and air force operations in the region. They have state-of-the-art anti-aircraft defense systems in place, and a very sophisticated and well-oiled intelligence network, one which has given its near neighbor and traditional adversary, Israel’s IDF and Mossad, a difficult time penetrating over the years.

The report further states that:

“Assad warned against Libya-style military intervention, saying “any military action against Syria will bring repercussions that (the West) cannot tolerate.” There have been no serious international plans to launch such an operation, in part because the opposition has said it does not want Western countries to interfere.

Assad declared to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday that military and security operations have stopped in Syria. Despite that pledge, the government’s offensive has continued, although on a smaller scale.”

The western globalist effort to absorb Syria in its fold will be by anyone’s estimation, a long, expensive and very difficult process to install a US-Euro-Israeli compliant regime to replace Assad’s government. Time is not on their side. It is doubtful that despite their recent victories in North Africa, the US-Euro-Israeli Axis will be able to withstand the domestic political and economic pressures which face the ruling regimes at home.

If there is a country that can, and are prepared to hold out, despite globalist PR and political pressures- it is Syria. In addition, tempting the wand of fate with Syria also risks pulling Iran- or Russia, into a wider regional conflict, the results of which, war game planners in Whitehall and the Pentagon are already studying and preparing scenarios for.

For those reasons, the coming months may reveal a series of successive western moves which planners in Washington, London and Tel Aviv hope will accelerate destabilisation of the country leading to regime change. This may include pre-emptive measures, like an early assassination attempt on President Assad using  western or Israeli intelligence operatives already in play in the region.

A successful NATO operation in Syria would probably come at a high cost, but it would in effect remove the Middle East’s last remaining strong and independent states from the chess board, paving the way for a unified, geopolitical globalist grip over the greater region.

BOLSHEVIK REVOLUTION WAS ENGINEERED BY FREEMASONS, FINANCED BY BANKING ELITE

August 2, 2011

21st Century Wire
Aug 2, 2011

Still today, socialists and middleclass activists romanticise about past revolutions and communist exploits. Contrary to popular myth, many of the so-called ‘socialist’ revolutions and wars of independence were not organic, grass-roots movements at all.

Historical evidence suggests that both the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia and the United States Revolution were Masonic-led and banker-financed plots to consolidate power, planting the seeds for a New World Order in the 20th and 21st Centuries.

They are the “Collectivists”, whose agenda remains today, complete social control and domination of all global markets. Watch this incredible documentary by Juri Lina, which documents their plot, and eventual rise to power…

RUSSIA TODAY INTERVIEW WITH PATRICK HENNINGSEN: “Libya has become a nation building circus”

June 10, 2011

21st Century Wire
June 10, 2011

21st Century Wire Editor Patrick Henningsen talks with Russia Today about the UN and NATO’s illegal war in Libya

NATO is continuing its barrage of the Libyan capital, with no sign there will be any let-up until Colonel Muammar Gaddafi goes. Western and Arab countries are showing their support for the Libyan opposition by pledging more money.

The rebels say they need $3 billion over the next several months to pay salaries and buy supplies.

Although the rebels have managed to get financing from their first oil exports to the US, writer and filmmaker Patrick Henningsen believes the oil business coming out of Libya is not the main driver of this NATO operation.

“We are talking about a total restructuring of the state,” he said. “The rebels drew up plans way back in March to have their own oil company to replace the Libyan national oil company, and their own national bank.”

UN AND NATO: Taking sides in Libya's civil war to bring Libya under the globalist system.

The unfreezing of Libyan assets to be given to the opposition is taking longer than expected, but Henningsen says there are bigger issues.

“I think a bigger question is that the Libyan national bank has one of the highest per capita gold reserves of any state bank in the world. I think the only country that has a higher per capita gold reserve is Lebanon,” he said. “What Gaddafi might have stuffed away in Swiss bank account or a collection of Swiss bank accounts is miniscule compared to the state assets in terms of gold and oil that Libya possesses. And this has really been the game all along.”

Henningsen claims this operation is about making Libya fold into the globalist umbrella, converting the nation to a more privatized one…

Obama’s Announcement Only Fuels the Mythology of Bin Laden

May 3, 2011

“The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”
- Mark Twain (1897)

By Patrick Henningsen
21st Century Wire

The mythology surrounding America’s public enemy number one took yet another bizarre turn this week as Washington announced that after ten years of searching they have finally located and killed their illusive adversary, Osama bin Laden. Unfortunately for US authorities however, this latest staged media event has created far more questions than it has answers.

Indeed, The Washington Post did report Monday that bin Laden, the long-hunted al-Qaeda leader and alleged chief architect of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, was in fact killed on Sunday in what officials described as a Navy Seal-run surgical raid on his alleged luxury hideout in Pakistan.

In a rare Sunday night address from the East Room of the White House, President Obama announced that small team of U.S. personnel attacked a compound in Pakistan’s Abbottabad Valley, where bin Laden is said to have been hiding. During a firefight, the U.S. team allegedly killed bin Laden, 54, and then took custody of his body. President Obama described the event as “the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat al-Qaeda”, and seen as a “significant turning point for global security and the War on Terror.”

STAGED WHITE HOUSE PHOTO: Obama and staff look on during their latest apparent state-sponsored assassination operation (PHOTO: AAP)

According to US sources, this latest operation was made possible thanks to “a trail of evidence that originated from Al-Qaeda detainees”, which had led to the careful monitoring of a compound suspected to be Osama bin Laden’s Pakistani hiding place. This is an interesting statement planted by Washington into this story, as it will no doubt be used by authorities to justify the existence of Guantanamo Bay and similar gulag-like cites around the world- all of whose credibility in the area of gathering real terror intel has been rather poor to date.

Public confusion over body ID

Bin Laden’s body was then allegedly recovered by the U.S. military and kept in its possession until it was dumped at sea hours later. From here, the story begins to get very dicey. Both ABC News and the Associated Press have reported that the body has been identified by DNA testing using tissue and blood samples taken from his sister who died of brain cancer previously. However, Reuters reports that DNA test results will not actually be available for days still, and that his body was identified using facial recognition techniques.

Patrick Henningsen on Russia Today: helping to deconstruct the myth of bin Laden.

The big source of confusion regarding evidence of bin Laden’s death is that US military officials are said to have immediately disposed of the body in the Arabian Sea, supposedly adhering to “Muslim burial customs”, even though no such official Muslim burial practice actually exists. Naturally, Washington insists that they have photos and video of the body, but have yet to release them to the public.

This means that, in theory, there can only be a limited number of actual witnesses and that there is no body to verify that it genuinely  was bin Laden, leaving the public with only the government’s official version of events to believe. Confusion, not conclusion, will be the order of the day. It is likely that this tactic was an intentional one on the part of Washington, providing pundits and conspiracy theorists with an endless knot that will take decades to unravel.

Numerous past reports of bin Laden’s death

Since 2001, numerous reports and statements have been made confirming the death of bin Laden. Infowars chronicled a list of these incidents recently, reporting the following:

  • Osama bin Laden died of kidney failure in the presence of a CIA doctor in Dubai, soon after the September 11, 2001, attacks.
  • He died in Tora Bora in December 2001, according to a FOX NEWS report.
  • In 2002, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said bin Laden had kidney disease, and that he had required a dialysis machine when he lived in Afghanistan. That same year, the FBI’s top counter-terrorism official, Dale Watson, said, “I personally think he is probably not with us any more.”
  • A Taliban leader told the Pakistan Observer on December 21, 2002, that Bin Laden was suffering from a serious lung complication and died in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief, according to Fox News.
  • Alex Jones was told live on the radio in 2002 by high-level Council on Foreign Relations member, Dr. Steve Pieczenik, that Osama Bin Laden had died of kidney failure in early 2002.“I have it from high level [sources] from inside the Bush administration…that bin Laden died of natural causes and that his family has given the body to the CIA, that they’re gonna roll him out right before the election, that he’s on ice right now. They will claim they killed him right before the election,” Alex said at the time. During the 2004 election, CNN reported that Democratic insiders had been told that George W. Bush was going to use the Bin Laden body as an ace-in-the-hole if he thought he was in danger of losing the 2004 election. This confirmed the evidence that Jones had been given by the CFR and others.
  • In 2003, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told Fox News Channel analyst Morton Kondracke she suspected Bush knew the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden and was waiting for the most politically expedient moment to announce his capture.
  • Benazir Bhutto, who was killed in a suicide attack at the end of 2007, stated that Osama bin Laden had been killed by Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a man convicted of kidnapping and killing journalist Daniel Pearl.
Grainy videos like this one are all that is available to substantiate this latest Bin Laden story.

Predictable Results

With little to celebrate in the US where the US dollar is plummeting, unemployment numbers have reached record highs and government deficits are bleeding the public resources, Bin Laden’s reported death has provided something for Americans to celebrate with spontaneous celebrations erupting in places like New York City and Washington DC.

With a system which has grown into an institution since 2001, the security state’s reaction to the announcement of Bin Laden’s demise is as routine as it is predictable. For a public who has been trained to live in a perpetual state of fear, the alleged death of Bin Laden translates into a brief respite and opportunity to celebrate followed by yet another  increase in the security apparatus.

The result of this latest chapter in the Bin Laden saga has been an elevation in “Terror Threat Levels”. In near robotic fashion, all major news outlets are running identical talking points centred on authorities in Western countries who are advising “vigilance against possible Al Qaeda strikes in retaliation to the death of Osama Bin Laden”.

Authorities are also advising that people “avoid travel to areas where anti-western protests may erupt” and also to “avoid public gathering that might attract a revenge attack”.

Video: How Bin Laden and Al Qaeda were invented by the West.

It wasn’t long ago that Wikileaks files were cited where Khalid Sheikh Mohammed told Guantanamo Bay interrogators the terror group would detonate the nuclear device if the al-Qaeda chief was captured or killed. The alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks is said to have warned that al-Qaeda has hidden a nuclear bomb “somewhere in Europe” which will unleash a “nuclear hell storm” if Osama bin Laden was ever captured.

Obama: A timely announcement

Broadcasters and pollsters will tell you that Sunday evening is the very best time to plant a story because most Americans are home, preparing to face another work week, and the largest percentage of Americans watch TV on Sunday evening. When President Obama finally made his statement about how he had located bin Laden and killed him in a firefight, the President proceeded to take no reporter questions. Obviously, any questions by the press were deemed too risky by White House staff.

UNCONVINCING DELIVERY: Obama attempts to bolster his wartime resume this week with a stage-managed announcement.

The timing of this announcement certainly carries a high political value for a US administration soon entering a new Presidential election cycle in 2012. It could help to reposition a domestically unpopular President Obama as a competent military operator overseas, appeasing America’s war hawk constituency.

Obama outlined this epic chain of events during his Sunday address stating, “Shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta, the director of the CIA, to make the killing or capture of bin Laden the top priority of our war against al Qaeda, even as we continued our broader efforts to disrupt, dismantle, and defeat his network.” The President then certified his War on Terror and military credentials explaining how he gave the order to kill, “And finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action, and authorized an operation to get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.”

In the world of modern US politics, the “patriot card” is the ace which can be produced during any speech or Presidential debate. Obama has clearly positioned himself as the man who will “take credit” for the killing of Osama bin Laden. The ten year anniversary for Sept 11, 2001 will take place this fall and it is certain that Obama will rehash this week’s glorious assassination from a podium at Ground Zero. Obama’s wartime resume will also be bolstered by this week’s event, a tool he will likely employ in the Democrat effort  to effectively stave off any challengers from the Republican Party’s right wing next year.

Another state-sponsored assassination

In the wake of the infamous Iraqi WMD debacle and with tax payer confidence in the abilities of US Intelligence community at an all-time low, this latest announcement will be used by Washington to demonstrate that their agencies are indeed competent and can actually produce valid and actionable intel. In effect, Washington will use its latest campaign to wipe the old slate clean and build on this apparent victory, possibly with some future intel concerning prospective adversaries like Iran.

This latest state-sponsored assassination also re-enforces the precedent of targeting foreign leaders outside of the boundaries of legal justice. Currently the US and NATO are carrying out a series of targeted extrajudicial killings in Libya, an effort that has already claimed the lives of Gaddafi’s immediate family and one which hopes to eventually eliminate Gaddafi himself.

Both unusual and illegal as this may appear on its surface, the Western public has now become accustomed to seeing its governments carry out these high level state mafia-style hits, a rather bizarre trend for evolved Western civilisation. It goes without saying that in almost all of these cases, each of these high-profile victims could not be successfully brought in front of any real court of justice due to an acute lack of evidence against them. They amount to purely political targets who unfortunately will be denied the luxury of any proper investigation into the West’s charges against them.

A shift in focus towards new enemies

Amongst all the hype and revelry, it still seems rather implausible that Osama bin Laden has “been on the run” for nearly a decade. Authorities would like us to believe that it took the entire US military industrial complex 10 years to both locate and kill Osama Bin Laden, their sworn public enemy number one. What is more plausible is that this particular moment in time has in fact been chosen and the event has been staged and later choreographed for mass media consumption.

Once the feel-good factor, public traction and the brief heightened state of alert has been spent, Washington and its NATO allies will be turning their sights further down field.

Most significant, is that this new announcement could very well be signalling a shift in US and NATO war plans, gradually moving focus away from the War on Terror and repositioning US public angst towards a cadre of new nation-state enemy players. With both occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan still on the burner, US imperial aspirations overseas are already at near breaking point. Polls and historical trends also show that American voters will not likely want to switch their leadership during a hot military conflict, so we can expect that an expansion of ground troops could occur in Libya, or that a brand new operation could be launched as early as next spring 2012. On top of US and NATO agendas for prospective conflicts are clearly Libya (currently in progress), Iran and possibly Syria. Any one of these potential conflicts will require solid backing from the US public in order to ensure their launch and longevity.

Mark Twain could not have scripted a better ending for this, the season finale of Osama On the Run. As events unfold in the coming months, educated members of the public will be able to better piece together the real behind significance of Sunday’s announcement and read the long-range foreign policy game plan of the US, Israel and their NATO allies. Watch this space.

THE DEFINITIVE A-Z GUIDE FOR DEALING WITH NUCLEAR FALLOUT

March 18, 2011

Editor’s Note: Following a series of radioactive explosions at Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant this past week, authorities have confirmed that large amounts of radioactive particles were released directly into the atmosphere, and are blowing easterly towards the U.S. and later due to hit Europe and Russia. If this worries you, be rest assured that you are not alone. Certain questions linger like, “how much radiation is considered dangerous?”, and “how can nuclear fallout contaminate our food and water supplies?”… These questions are not so easy and straightforward to answer, but you can at least get yourself informed- a process which will enable you to make your own evaluation of the potential risks. Risk assessment is not an exact science, it’s merely an educated guess.  If you live in an industrialised nation, radiation is unfortunately a part of your life. Below Shane Connor has compiled an excellent online A-Z Guide for dealing with nuclear fallout and radiation issues. Our advice: Don’t Panic just yet- first take a few minutes and have a thumb through here…

This guide provides panic dispelling knowledge so people downwind can more promptly initiate appropriate protective actions, as required.

This is the third in the series that begins with The Good News About Nuclear Destruction! that debunks the myths of nuclear un-survivability and What To Do If A Nuclear Disaster Is Imminent! that details the practical methods for American families to protect themselves from nuclear explosion(s) and fallout originating here.

America’s next nuclear concerns may not have originated here, but be instead from a nuclear bomb or nuclear release overseas.

A Chernobyl-type event affecting people in other countries downwind…

STILL A NO-NO FOR LIBYAN NO-FLY ZONE

March 16, 2011

G8 foreign and state ministers meeting in Paris today decided to do… nothing, in order to end Ghadafi’s revenge drive against insurgents, still employing his air force to bombard remaining bastions of insurgent power in eastern Libya.

The drive by France and Britain to impose a no-fly zone over Libya failed to win round the United States, Canada, Russia, Japan and the 2 other European Union powers of the G-8 group, Italy and Germany, who claim the G8 power bloc must first obtain full UN Security Council approval, that is approval by China, or simply increase non-military pressure on the Ghadafi regime. Meanwhile the insurgents, short of ammunition, logistics and fighting manpower are beating a constant retreat to their first, and perhaps last bastion – Benghazi.

The Arab League’s surprise decision, 13 March, in favour of imposing a no-fly zone over Libya was with no surprise met with rage by the Ghadafi regime. The decision backed by all member states – Libya being absent – was described as having “negative consequences” for all Arab nations by the Ghadafi regime’s Libyan Foreign Ministry on Sunday, but opens the way for Arab nations to break out of their traditional inertia and subservience to external powers. Among the Arab countries voting the decision, Egypt is fully capable of setting, and enforcing a no-fly across Libya and hammering any attempt at resistance by Ghadafi’s comic opera military forces.

POLITICAL SANDSTORM FAVOURS THE MAD DOG

While we can easily criticize Ronald Reagan for being a vanguard of the hysterical and anti-human neoliberal doctrine, Reagan hit right in an April 1986 press conference, where he described Muammar Ghadafi as the mad dog of the Middle East. Since then, nothing has changed except that the Mad Dog has become more rabid, cruel and toxic, especially to his own people.

NOT HAVING IT: Stubborn as ever, the Libyan leader is rebuking Western calls to step down.

Today however G8 deciders and world public opinion is riveted by the Japan nuclear crisis, probably the greatest nuclear catastrophe since the Chernobyl crisis – also of April 1986. Attention is turned elsewhere and diverted. This enables the Mad Dog to cannily and caninely profit from any weakness inside the international community. Damage to nuclear power and its image as the key energy source for improving energy security and limiting vulnerability to oil price hikes will with no possible doubt, if only for a short period, re-install oil as the most critical energy resource.

Colonel Ghadafi’s 1.3 million barrels a day of oil export capacity, if he returns to total and tyrannical power, is therefore a powerful bargaining chip in the present highly charged, tense geopolitical and economic scene. As the radiation charged winds over Tokyo decide the flee-or-stay response of Japan’s decreasingly supine and obedient salary man masses, the Mad Dog can power ahead, unpunished, with the destruction of remaining insurgent power bastions. To be sure, Libya after the failed revolution would only be a repressive police state even more evil than the presnt – but Libyan oil might again flow to the fuel tanks of the civilized world’s innocent consumer masses, for a short while at least.

SARKOZY CALLING FOR GHADAFI TO GO

French television and media obediently and patriotically repeat the so-sincere demand of president Nicolas Sarkozy for Mr Ghadafi to quit. Coming from the mouth of the same politician who warmly shook hands with Ghadafi in July 2007, trying hard to sell Libya a French nuclear power plant with all the trimmings, this kind of exercice de faux-cul, that is hypocrisy or realpolitik, bodes ill for further attempts by this politician, Sarkozy, to make any particular further effort to unscrew the Mad Dog from his heavily incrusted and battened down full metal jacket power system inside Libya.

WAITING IN THE WINGS: NATO forces on standby while leaders mull over NO-FLY logistics.

One example suffices. Those foreign expatriate pilots of Ghadafi’s slender airforce – flying airplanes that are mostly French supplied – who did not rapidly flee Libya with their planes, especially to Malta and demand political refugee status (with a 15-million-dollar airplane as a bail collateral) are now hostages. Expatriate pilots remaining in Libya, according to reports on Italy’s RAI and France’s FR2 and FR3 television channels, week ending 13 March, are now forced to fly by Ghadafi. Their families are held hostage, and are they are threatened with certain death if the pilot father does not obey orders.

With such basic, low tech and desert bedouin methods of getting obedience, Ghadafi is in his element and provides further proof of what must be done with a rabid dog. For realpolitik reasons, because of the Japan nuclear catastrophe, and because oil is scarce, however, the needed, right and just treatment of the Mad Dog has not yet been decided. Arab nations themselves, particularly Egypt, could jump-start this yawning gap in the march of History, but that would deliver yet another massive culture shock in what is already a very fast changing world.

Road To Damascus: Sheriff Google and Deputy Facebook Skidaddle To Syria

March 3, 2011

Yes, it’s an order, the Facebook page telling people to meet peacefully across Syria for freedom and democracy, now go do that voodoo that youdoo best. Nevermind the central bank, that comes after you topple the government for them, more important things on the agenda now, gold-juggling in Tunisia, a pesky fly to swat in Tripoli, lock down in Cairo. Banking cartels need it busted up, ready for them to dash in and save.

Social Network revolution rousing is a game of clinical commands, like ringing Pavlov’s bell to elicit the pre-conditioned response as he did with his luckless un-hungry dog who ate till it came out his nostrels. The youth of Damascus and every wired corner of the country are mostly resisting the urge to salivate, supressing the suggested hunger to congregate with other ‘meat-bots’ face to face after spending inordinate amounts of time online. But their best friends- Google and Facebook, want help reorganising the world.

NEXT FACEBOOK TARGET: Syria and Iran brace themselves for the next digital onslaught.

Assad’s stalwart supporters who decry his removal say he brought dignity back to a place that was sorely lacking during all the time Syria has had to exist with a cleverly belligerent Israel as next door neighbour. For the first time in nearly seventy years and after the thumping Israelis got stepping into Lebanon last time around, supporting Hezbollah has blossomed into a marvellous PR stunt, Iran’s friends are his too now.

And the mythical Iranian warships have passed safely through Suez to land at Latakia where they’ve agreed with Syria to inaugurate their new Mediterranean naval base. That’s quite a milestone actually, the last Persian war fleet fell into the hands of Alexander the Great twenty three hundred and thirty years ago and there hadn’t been another one since. Note to self ; hot-foot it to Delphi, consult the Oracle on this one.

Historically, it feels like irresistable forces are colliding with immovable objects and down on the ground, on the Arab Street, there’s a knowing sense of foreboding. Assad is not only shoring up his support abroad with the Iran deal, he’s inviting a contingent of friendly foreign troops into Syria, which he may one day have to call upon. Israel is top of his threat list but enemies of every pedigree lurk in the Souk’s dark corners.

Whether foreigners will be enlisted to suppress dissent at home remains to be seen, remembering the Russians have been skuking around there a long while too and right about now Assad can use friends with muscle. His minority Alawi community is a particular target from their adversaries in the south, believing the Hebrew people to be God’s second “chosen people” based on their claim the world began less than six thousand years ago and Damascus being an inhabited city for nine thousand years, etc.

ISRAELI CLOAK & DAGGER

All Syrians distrust Israelis, the devious wresting of the Golan Heights from their grasp hurt their national pride, which they’ll not forgive and therefore refuse to hand over Eli Cohen‘s body till this day. The strangest part of that spy story is that Cohen was operating out of Damascus as a fake Muslim, morally and financially supporting the Baath Party and terror groups attacking Israel. A tit for tat series of false flags that made the Six Day War look like the right thing for israel to do at their wit’s end.

All this… from Mossad’s man in Egypt that escaped the noose in 1955 for bombing in the Lavon Affair. Damascus can be forgiven for their mild paranoia about traitors in their midst, it was a cold slap- and still stings to this day. Spy chief Isser Harel‘s biography covers the subject quite thoroughly and the Syrian intelligence operatives who’ve read it can still not believe all it took was for Israel to operate in the dark, fund and egg on it’s supposed enemies so retaliative aggression dressed up as self-defense achieved Israel’s territorial ambitions. The outrage still boils over at the audacity of the theft.

1967 Spy Games: Israel gains its advantage under the cloak of regional conflict.

Damascus buzzes with two questions, does Israel think they can get away with an attack and is the commotion brewing online designed to lay the groundwork for a pseudo last resort IDF action? Meanwhile the international press drumbeats the ‘dictator’ and ‘years of repression’ theme to make Asaad look like an enemy of the freedom-loving masses. Whether he is or not doesn’t matter as much as the perception that it’s ok to kick and even kill him according to the drill, no flinching from the blood anywhere in mainstream media.

That’s bloody uncivilised from every angle. So who in digital Hell’s running that Posse?
