Clinton Gravy Train: Holding America to Ransom on Paid Junket Tour?

21st Century Wire says…

There is something vulgar about career politicians who charge over half a million dollars per hour to speak to docile crowds about their illustrious taxpayer-funded careers (Tony Blair immediately comes to mind).

Apparently, her speeches normally last around 20 minutes, or 30 minutes if she’s feeling good about the gig. The going rate for that would be in excess of $300,000. According the Washington Post, $300K is the ‘college discount’ price (see full story below).

1-Hillary-Clinton-Cover-upThat’s not all. In addition to her six-figure fee, there’s the issue of her luxury travel requirements and additional ‘expenses’. These include (but are not limited too) presidential suites in luxury hotels, private jets (minimum Gulfstream G450 or larger), two “travel aides” and “advance staffers” who check out and approve her speech venues beforehand.

The Review Journal described Bill and Hillary’s recent ‘double bill’ performance in Vegas:

“The former president spoke at the 2012 UNLV Foundation dinner, taking home a $250,000 fee. His spouse will get $225,000 to speak at the annual dinner. The size of Hillary Clinton’s fee has come under fire from critics who question the large expense in an era when students are hard-pressed to cover tuition and leave school saddled with massive debt.

But Clinton’s $225,000 is something of a cut-rate. Documents obtained by the newspaper show that she initially asked for $300,000 and reveal that she insists on controlling every detail of the private event, large and small, to ensure that she will be the center of attention.

According to her standard speaking contract, Clinton will remain at the event no longer than 90 minutes; will pose for no more than 50 photos with no more than 100 people; and won’t allow any press coverage or video- or audio-taping of her speech. The only record allowed will be made by a stenographer whose transcription will be given only to Clinton. The stenographer’s $1,250 bill, however, will go to the UNLV Foundation.”

In the ‘green room’ backstage, Clinton’s staff also require the following: “Coffee, tea, room temp sparkling and still water, diet ginger ale, crudité, hummus and sliced fruit, as well as a computer, mouse and printer and scanner, which according to the Post – the university also had to purchase for the occasion.

Basically, Hillary requires the ‘White House standard’ wherever she moves. The problem with all this and gaffs like when she claimed earlier this year that her and Bill were “dead broke” when they left the White House in 2001, is that it runs contrary to the images she works hard (and spends a lot to maintain) to propagate – that her and Bill are ‘of the people’. Far from it, and far beyond even the limousine liberal could ever imagine, the Clintons have mastered the art of cashing-in on public life.

What rare insights and timeless wisdom Hillary actually has to offer her audiences is certainly debatable. Unfortunately, all of the really interesting stuff has been left out, like the Arkansas years – Bill, brother Roger and the gang, the flights in and out of Mena airport, partying at the governor’s mansion, the girls, the cocaine, and Hillary spending the bulk of her time in the 80’s and 90’s cleaning up after he her husband’s womanizing and ‘dealing with people’ who could hurt the Clinton dynasty and burgeoning international humanitarian brand. There’s also all the really interesting inside baseball Hillary could share with audiences, like her husbands high-profile affairs with actresses and of course what would an evening with Hillary be like without hearing her true feelings about Bill’s jiggery-pokery with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and what it was like watch him lie about it all on national TV. Likewise, Hillary has deleted out her role as leader in the ‘Friends of Syria’ in 2011-2012, organizing material support among the Arab dictator regimes like Saudi Arabia and Qatar, or the illegal transfer of arms from Libya to Syria, in support of the ‘moderate rebels’ there who soon changed colors to become jihadist militants al Nusra Front and ISIS/ISIL terrorist brigades.

It’s true that Bill also cashes-in royally on the speaking engagements, but at least he has the added benefit of actually holding an executive position as a US President, unlike his wife, who derived her brand name from… um, err, well… from her husband.

It’s not easy being a Queen in the US, but Hillary seems to be doing just fine with the gag…

Plans for UCLA visit give rare glimpse into Hillary Clinton’s paid speaking career

When officials at the University of California at Los Angeles began negotiating a $300,000 speech appearance by Hillary Rodham Clinton, the school had one request: Could we get a reduced rate for public universities?

The answer from Clinton’s representatives: $300,000 is the “special university rate.”

That e-mail exchange and other internal communications, obtained this week by The Washington Post under a Freedom of Information Act request, provide a rare glimpse into the complex and meticulous backstage efforts to manage the likely 2016 presidential candidate’s lucrative speaking career.

At UCLA, efforts to book Clinton and then prepare for her visit were all-consuming, beginning almost immediately after she left her job as secretary of state on Feb. 1, 2013, until she delivered her Luskin Lecture for Thought Leadership speech on March 5, 2014.

The documents show that Clinton’s representatives at the Harry Walker Agency exerted considerable control over her appearance and managed even the smallest details — from requesting lemon wedges and water on stage to a computer, scanner, and a spread of hummus and crudité in the green room backstage.

Top university officials discussed at length the style and color of the executive armchairs Clinton and moderator Lynn Vavreck would sit in as they carried on a question-and-answer session, as well as the kind of pillows to be situated on each chair. Clinton’s representatives requested that the chairs be outfitted with two long, rectangular pillows — and that two cushions be kept backstage in case the chair was too deep and she needed additional back support.

After a lengthy call with a Clinton representative, UCLA administrator Patricia Lippert reported to campus colleagues, “She uses a lavalier [microphone] and will both speak from the audience and walk around stage, TED talk style. We need a teleprompter and 2-3 downstage scrolling monitors [for] her to read from.”

During a walk-through of Royce Hall five days before the lecture, the e-mails show, Clinton’s team rejected the podium planned for her use during her 20- to 30-minute speech, setting off a scramble on campus to find a suitable podium and rent a new university seal to match…
